Eric Scheibeler |
Eric Scheibeler is a former IBO who has been extremely vocal in his criticism of Quixtar for years, ever since his failed efforts to sue Quixtar for millions of dollars.
Mr. Scheibeler was an IBO for several years before a business dispute arose between him, several other IBOs, and Quixtar. Despite efforts to resolve issues through Quixtar's dispute resolution process, Mr. Scheibeler sued Quixtar and other IBOs, demanding millions of dollars in alleged damages. The court ordered him to submit his claims to confidential arbitration, and the court supported the results of the arbitration process, which are subject to a confidentiality order.
While Mr. Scheibeler at first achieved considerable success in the Quixtar business, eventually his business failed, as have his efforts to use the court system to blame that failure on others. He chose not to appeal the court's ruling, instead embarking on a smear campaign that includes an e-book, a website, press releases, and more.
Quixtar Inc. and sister-company Amway Corp. filed a lawsuit against Mr. Scheibeler in February 2007 for defamation based on inflammatory comments made by him on the Web and in statements made to the news media.
We are very reluctant to take legal action against company critics, preferring instead that they simply retract false information upon request. We believe in the rights of individuals to express opinions about our business opportunity based on their personal experiences. However, we cannot tolerate false claims that damage the reputations of Quixtar, its business opportunity, and its IBOs. We will continue to vigorously defend the Quixtar and Amway businesses against injurious statements such as these.
